IPL 2024: [WATCH]- Virat Kohli Smiles After Ishant Sharma Dismisses Him In RCB vs DC Match

Experienced batsman Virat Kohli and bowler Ishant Sharma engaged in a friendly competition during the RCB vs. DC match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. Despite being hit for some big shots by Kohli, Sharma had the final laugh. The two Delhi players have a longstanding bond from playing together for many years.

Later, following Kohli’s dismissal in the fourth over of RCB’s innings, Ishant Sharma delivered a notably friendly send-off, disrupting RCB’s strong start. Despite initially facing a tough time with boundaries off the first two deliveries, Ishant managed to regain control.

In the earlier game, led by Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals (DC) won the toss and chose to bat against Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday evening.

Axar Patel is taking charge of the Capitals in place of Rishabh Pant, who was suspended due to a slow-over rate in DC’s previous match.

RCB is still alive in the playoff race

Bengaluru is currently positioned seventh on the leaderboard with seven points, having won five out of twelve matches in the tournament. They enter this match after securing a 60-run victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS).

The Delhi-based team holds the fifth spot on the IPL 2024 table with six points from six wins out of twelve matches. They come into this game following a 20-run win against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

DC captain Axar Patel stated that Kumar Kushagra will take the place of Rishabh Pant in the playing eleven. Additionally, he mentioned that Rasikh Dar Salam has been included in the starting eleven against the Bengaluru-based team.

“Will bowl first. Bangalore’s wicket is always good. It’s a chasing ground. When we start well, we dominate the game. Rishabh was angry and had appealed as well against the suspension. He’s at the ground here, motivating the team. Kushagra comes in for Rishabh. Rasikh Dhar is in,” Axar said.

Du Plessis, the skipper of RCB, expressed confidence in the team’s performance, stating they are playing well and feeling assured in the dressing room. The South African cricketer also expressed optimism about the wicket in Bengaluru, hoping it would be favorable.

“Little bit less grass than earlier games. Hopefully, it’s a good wicket. We look forward to every game now – we’re playing some good cricket. Have to start again. We have got more of that confidence in the dressing room. The same team for us,” Du Plessis said.
