Experienced Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal outsmarted Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer during their encounter in Match 31 of IPL 2024 in Kolkata on Tuesday, April 16.
In the 13th over of Kolkata’s innings, Iyer took advantage of a fuller delivery from Chahal and hit it for a six over mid-wicket. However, Chahal adjusted his length slightly and gained an advantage.
Shreyas Iyer attempted to replicate his earlier shot, aiming to hit across the line towards cow corner. However, the ball wasn’t pitched full enough for the stroke he intended. Consequently, he completely missed the ball, resulting in Yuzvendra Chahal getting him out, as confirmed by the on-field umpire’s decision.

Despite Shreyas Iyer opting for a review, he had a feeling of impending trouble and started making his way back to the pavilion even before the reviews confirmed three reds. It was a crucial wicket for the Royals as the KKR skipper was attempting to accelerate. Iyer departed after scoring 11 runs off seven deliveries.
Sunil Narine’s century propels KKR comfortably past the 200-run mark against RR
All-rounder Sunil Narine continued his resurgence as a batsman by becoming only the third KKR player in IPL history to achieve a century. Right from the start, Narine dominated the RR bowlers, showing no mercy to anyone in his onslaught.
By the time he was dismissed, Narine had already amassed 109 runs from just 56 deliveries, guiding Kolkata well beyond the 200-run mark. Rinku Singh then contributed a remarkable cameo of 20* runs from just nine balls, aiding the hosts in posting a massive total of 223/6 in their 20 overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance and Jos Buttler’s injury could significantly impact whether the Royals achieve the strong start required to chase down the target.
