Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a four-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 3 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, March 23rd, with five deliveries left to spare. Out of the three matches played so far in IPL 2025, this match is the most evenly balanced.
CSK restricted MI to 155/9 in their allotted 20 overs, where Tilak Varma with 31 and Suryakumar Yadav contributed 29 runs. Deepak Chahar gave MI some late impetus with his 28 runs in 15 balls. Noor Ahmad ended with the IPL-best bowling figures of 4/18 in four overs. Rahul Tripathi was CSK’s first wicket to go in the second innings; however, from there on, Rachin Ravindra partnered excellently well with Ruturaj Gaikwad in directing CSK to a position of dominance by the end of seven overs.

Mumbai Indians spinner Vignesh Puthur made a sensational IPL debut for MI, taking the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube in the match against Chennai Super Kings. Puthur replaced Rohit Sharma and bowled brilliantly, catching Dube and dismissing Hooda for 3. Born in Kerala, Puthur has played at U-14 and U-19 levels and currently plays for Alleppey Ripples in the Kerala Cricket League.
3. Noor Ahmad’s Bowling Figures
Ahmad’s performance was 4/18 in four overs, which played a significant role in securing victory for CSK. By restricting MI’s batting line-up and taking crucial wickets, he ensured CSK managed to restrict MI from getting a substantial total. His bowling figures of Ahmad were a key contribution to CSK’s victory.
