Delhi Capitals (DC) has strengthened its team for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after acquiring the services of Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman. Left Arm becomes a member of the team as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who will not come back due to personal reasons. The presence of Mustafizur is expected to strengthen the bowling department of the Capitals due to his experience and capability in the IPL.
Mustafizur has been bought for Rs 6 crore, which speaks volumes about his field capabilities. The 29-year-old has fine IPL statistics, as he has picked up 61 wickets in 57 games at an economy of 8.14. His previous assignment with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last season proved his abilities, in which he got 14 wickets from nine matches with a four-wicket haul.

Mustafizur’s return to Delhi capitals is a reunion of sorts, since he played for the team in 2022 and 2023. For his previous stint, he got nine wickets for ten matches. He was released by CSK and failed to find a new franchise in the mega auction in November last year. However, his experience and abilities have obviously turned him into a desirable figure for the Capitals.
The Capitals are at this stage in 5th position in the table on 13 points and a net run rate of +0.362 after winning 6 out of 11 matches. The team has experienced some setbacks after a promising beginning where they won four games internationally in a row. Having Mustafizur on board, they will seek to get back to a winning way and book a top-four finish.
The Capitals’ next game is against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans on Sunday, 18th of May, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The inclusion of Mustafizur will help the team boost their bowling lineup and make a proper run for the playoffs.
