Ashutosh Sharma‘s innings was a completely destructive display that turned the game for DC. He banged a half-dozen fours and half a dozen sixes in scoring 66 off just 31 balls. Sharma’s ability to hit big shots under immense pressure was instrumental in bestowing victory for DC. Sharma’s innings were sheer brilliance-craftsmanship blended with grit-and he rightfully took home the Man of the Match award.
2. Pooran’s Dropped Catch Proves Costly for DC
Poor fielding, especially the dropped catch of Nicholas Pooran when he was on 17, proved to be very costly for DC. Pooran made them pay, battering 75 runs at a strike rate of 250. Pooran was off the hook after that dropped catch, and he took the match away from them, putting LSG in a strong position.
3. Vipraj Nigam’s Sensational Debut
Delhi Capitals went on to win a nail-biter, one run short of upsetting the Lucknow Super Giants, and the big takeaway was a 20-year-old all-rounder, Vipraj Nigam. This was his first IPL match, and oh, what a cameo he played in the comeback victory of the DC, wielding both bat and ball. His fearlessness has ended in grand motions for Delhi against their former captain, Rishabh Pant: LSG.
Nigam made appearances for Delhi on debut with much effect against LSG. He played a quickfire 39 off 15 balls, turning around the match and keeping Delhi’s hopes alive. With his fearless stroke play and a 55 run partnership with Ashutosh Sharma, he led Delhi to victory.
