Ryan Rickelton had an exhalatory relief after registering his first half-century for Mumbai Indians in the team triumph over Kolkata Knight Riders. The South African wicketkeeper batter raced to an unbeaten, brisk 62, striking off 41 balls laced with five sixes and four fours as MI beat KKR by eight wickets comfortably in the last breakout match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

MI’s captain Hardik Pandya‘s decision to bowl first reaped dividends with the bowling attack demolishing KKR’s batting lineup. The opposition was bundled out to a modest total, paving the way for Rickelton’s batting exploits, which were significant as they ensured MI an easy chase in cementing victory. With this win, Mumbai Indians were able to assert supremacy, while Rickelton’s maiden half-century stands as a memorable milestone in his career.

“Obviously a massive relief”- Ryan Rickelton

Ryan Rickelton expressed his relief at reaching his first half-century. With five sixes and four fours, the left-handed South African batsman-wicketkeeper scored 62 not out off 41 balls.

“Obviously a massive relief, in all honesty. The first two games were on tricky (and) on some tough wickets. To get out here in Mumbai and have Spencer (Johnson) turn me inside out was quite a tough battle to get through,” Ryan said.

“But once I managed to get through that, it’s just really pleasing to get a score. But more relief than anything and to get two points on the board is great for the team.” Ryan Rickelton added.

Ashwani Kumar made 4 for 24 on debut and Ryan Rickelton scored an unbeaten 62 to give the Mumbai Indians an easy win over the Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets. This was Mumbai’s first win in the 18th season after losing the first two games. Choosing to bowl, MI went on to bundle out KKR for 116 in 12.5 overs with an excellent performance by Kumar.
