In the IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on June 3, Marcus Stoinis was dismissed in the 16th over. He was removed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar during a pivotal over that also saw the dismissal of Nehal Wadhera.

This double strike significantly impacted PBKS’s chase, as they fell short by 6 runs, finishing at 184/7 while attempting to reach RCB’s total of 190/9. After Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Marcus Stoinis in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday (June 3), Virat Kohli was observed exchanging a lively celebration with AB de Villiers.

Kohli signaled to De Villiers, who acknowledged the gesture, and they celebrated the wicket together enthusiastically.

Kohli and De Villiers created some of the most unforgettable partnerships in IPL history while playing for Bengaluru. They hold the record for the highest partnership runs, having put together a 229-run stand against the Gujarat Lions during the 2016 season.

Gayle, de Villiers, and Anushka Join Kohli as RCB Celebrate Maiden IPL Championship

As the celebrations erupted, former RCB stars AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle came onto the field to share a heartfelt embrace with Virat Kohli in a moment full of happiness. Kohli also invited his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, onto the ground to join the historic celebration, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally lifted the IPL trophy for the very first time.

In the final match, Kohli played a crucial role with the bat, contributing an important 43 runs off 35 balls to help RCB set a competitive total of 190 for 9 in their 20 overs. The bowling unit then stepped up impressively, with notable performances from Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and others who secured key wickets to defend the target successfully.

Despite a spirited effort from Punjab Kings—highlighted by Shashank Singh’s standout 61—their chase fell just short, finishing at 184 for 7. This victory marked Kohli’s maiden IPL title, a well-deserved reward for his steadfast dedication to RCB since 2008 and resilience after experiencing three previous final losses with the team.
