The Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow showcased an eventful IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday. In a very close match, LSG stood victorious with a win of 12 runs and progressed to 203/8 in the 20 available overs. MI instead could manage only 191/5.

MI captain Hardik Pandya bowled in a match against LSG, but the decision turned out to be wrong as Marsh and Nicholas Pooran were paired very well. Marsh was left to torture MI bowlers after Pooran was dismissed, achieving a total of 203/8 in 20 overs. MI opened with a slow start, losing openers Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton for five and ten runs, respectively. Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav built a partnership, but Dhir finished short of a fifty, falling for 46 off 24 balls.

Masterclass from Marsh: Key to LSG’s Success

Imperiously, Marsh was in attendance, albeit in LSG, blasting a 27-ball fifty powerfully from the very first over against MI bowlers Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and Ashwani Kumar. His 60 runs from 31 balls set up the LSG innings beautifully, even though he was later dismissed by Vignesh Puthur. His importance in the match was established with the aggressive innings he played. Marsh gave a strong start to LSG, which later was capitalized on by other batsmen.

Markram’s Steady Hand: For a Crucial Partnership

Aiden Markram was crucial for LSG during its innings, building a partnership late with Ayush Badoni and scoring 53 off 38 balls in the process. Markram’s steadying contributions brought LSG to a total of 203/8 in 20 overs. His dismissal in the 18th over was a big blow for LSG in terms of the batting lineup. Markram’s partnership with Badoni fetched important runs for LSG, and his contributions to the victory were crucial.

A Suryakumar Fifty: MI’s Silver Lining

Suryakumar Yadav was MI’s best hope in the chase, with 67 from 43 balls and a fifty in the chase, and that was just before he was dismissed by Avesh Khan in the 17th over, which was not much use in winning MI the game. Suryakumar was a highlight in MI’s innings, a considerable contributor, but not enough to outshine the LSG total.
