In IPL, MS Dhoni continues to create history. He passed another huge milestone on April 14, during the match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK): he made his 200th dismissal in IPL with 154 catches and 46 stumpings. Notably, 196 of these dismissals, including 150 catches, came when he was actually behind the stumps.
MS Dhoni Etches His Name in History Books

The benchmark was set when Dhoni stumped Ayush Badoni off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling during the 14th over of LSG’s innings, with Badoni scoring 22. Dhoni later caught Rishabh Pant. In fact, in the behind-the-stumps performance of the entire season in 2025, Dhoni stood unmatched with seven dismissals—three catches and four stumpings. No other wicket-keeper has more than one stumping this season.
However, the greater achievement is that of 200 dismissals in DTH under the aegis of CSK, achieving a total of 150 catches and 50 stumpings in all competitions. He becomes the first player ever in T20 cricket to achieve such a feat for any team. Of these 200 dismissals, 176 (137 catches, 39 stumpings) have occurred within the confines of the IPL, the rest in the Champions League. Dhoni’s experience and skill behind the stumps have brought immeasurable value to the team CSK, as he carries on being a vital cog in the machinery.
Equally impressive is Dhoni’s overall IPL record, which includes 196 dismissals (150 catches, 46 stumpings) made when he was behind the stumps. Among non-wicket-keepers, the most fielding dismissals in the history of the league happened from Virat Kohli with 116 catches. This achievement by Dhoni is a mark of his phenomenal wicket-keeping and a legacy that he leaves in IPL. The contributions by Dhoni would matter most to the success of the team as CSK vies at the tournament.
