Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant has urged journalists to practice more responsible reporting and refrain from creating content based on false information. This came in response to a post on platform X, where a journalist speculated that Pant might be released by the franchise following a disappointing IPL 2025 season.
In his reply, the 27-year-old emphasized that credible and fact-based journalism is far more valuable than spreading misleading stories driven by personal agendas.
“I understand fake News gives more traction To content but let’s not built everything around it . Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with agenda . Thanks have a good day . Let’s be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media,” Pant wrote on X on Thursday, May 22.

The journalist responded to Pant by stating that he believed the left-hander had no influence over internal decisions within the franchise and that any decision regarding his future as LSG captain would ultimately be made by the team management.
Hi Rishabh,
I don't think you call shots in LSG.
You will remain captain or not, it will be decided by LSG management. Let them clear the air.
Thank you and enjoy last 2 matches of IPL 2025 as captain.

Rishabh Pant Looks to Finish IPL 2025 Strong Despite LSG Missing Playoffs
Rishabh Pant, who was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 lakh during the mega auction in November 2024, has endured a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign. The left-hander has managed just 135 runs across 12 matches, with a strike rate of 100.
Commenting on his performance, former New Zealand fast bowler Simon Doull remarked that T20 cricket appears to be Pant’s weakest format. While acknowledging Pant’s talent as a Test batsman, Doull noted that he has struggled to make a similar mark in the shortest version of the game.
“It’s his worst format, and they were desperate to go after him. He has had a poor season, and he has not set huge standards, really high standards that he has completely dipped now. He has just been an okay player as far as T20 cricket is concerned,” Doull had said on Cricbuzz.
