In his debut as Punjab Kings captain, he came agonizingly close to scoring his first IPL century but was left stranded at the non-striker’s end. Although Iyer missed out on a century, he registered his highest IPL score, surpassing his previous best of 96. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle continues to hold the record for the fastest IPL century, reaching the milestone in just 30 balls during his iconic 175* against Pune Warriors India in April 2013.
