IPL 2025: Virat Kohli Achieves A Huge Milestone For RCB

Virat Kohli delivered another masterclass as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced off against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2025 clash. The former RCB skipper smashed 62 runs off just 33 balls, peppering the ground with 5 sixes and 5 fours. His explosive knock included a 97-run opening stand with debutant Jacob Bethell.

In the process, Kohli achieved a monumental feat—becoming the first-ever player to hit 300 sixes for a single IPL franchise. This milestone sets him apart from legends like Chris Gayle (263 sixes) and AB de Villiers (238 sixes), both of whom also represented RCB. While Gayle still holds the overall IPL record for most sixes (357) across teams, Kohli’s loyalty and consistent performance for one franchise remain unmatched.

New Record for Most Runs Against a Single IPL Team

Virat Kohli’s fireworks didn’t stop at the sixes record. His latest innings also saw him leapfrog David Warner to become the leading run-scorer against a single IPL opponent. Kohli’s tally against CSK now stands at an impressive 1,146 runs, surpassing Warner’s 1,134 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Kohli also dominates other lists, with 1,130 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) and 1,104 runs against PBKS, showing his remarkable consistency. Other top scorers include Warner (1,093 runs vs KKR), but Kohli’s ability to shine against the league’s best teams underlines his status as a true IPL giant.

Most Sixes at M Chinnaswamy and Fifties vs CSK

Virat Kohli further etched his name in the record books by claiming the record for most sixes at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium in T20 cricket. His 154 sixes at the venue now outstrip Chris Gayle’s 151, making him the top hitter at this iconic ground. He also extended his lead for the most half-centuries scored against CSK in IPL history. With 10 fifty-plus scores, Kohli now sits ahead of top batters like Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, and Rohit Sharma, who each have 9.

Virat Kohli’s sensational performance against CSK not only gave RCB a dream start but also solidified his place as an IPL legend. With records tumbling—from sixes and fifties to total runs—Kohli continues to raise the bar, proving once again why he’s one of the greatest in the history of the league.
