Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell unleashed a powerful assault on Maheesh Theekshana during the IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Eden Gardens on Sunday, May 4. In the 18th over, Russell smashed three back-to-back sixes—one over wide long-on, the second straight over the sight screen, and the third toward wide long-off.
With this explosive knock, Russell became only the third player after Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa to score over 1,000 runs at Eden Gardens. He reached his first half-century of the season in just 32 balls and built a 61-run stand with Angkrish Raghuvanshi for the fourth wicket.

Andre Russell delivered a standout performance with the bat as the Knight Riders posted 206/4 against the Royals in their IPL 2025 encounter. The West Indies powerhouse remained unbeaten on 57 off just 25 balls, boasting a strike rate of 228 and hammering six sixes along with four fours. Angrish Raghuvanshi chipped in with a solid 44 off 31 balls, including five boundaries.
Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and captain Ajinkya Rahane contributed 35 (25) and 30 (24), respectively. Rinku Singh added a late flourish with an unbeaten 19 off just six balls, striking at 316.67 with two sixes and a four. On the bowling front, Jofra Archer, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Maheesh Theekshana, and skipper Riyan Parag picked up one wicket each.
With only four wins from 10 matches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) sit at seventh in the IPL 2025 standings. They must win all their remaining games to stay in playoff contention. In contrast, the Royals have been knocked out of the top-four race, having managed only three wins in 11 outings.
