
Virat Kohli became the second-fastest player to reach the milestone of 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. The 36-year-old achieved this landmark during Match 20 of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), where Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced off against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, April 7.
Chris Gayle still holds the record for the fastest to 13,000 T20 runs, having accomplished the feat during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 match for Jamaica Tallawahs against the Barbados Tridents. With this achievement, Kohli joins an elite group of T20 run-scorers that includes Gayle, Alex Hales, Shoaib Malik, and Kieron Pollard.

Virat Kohli Shines in Impressive Form with Stellar Performance
Virat Kohli has shown promising form in IPL 2025 as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) aim to climb to the top of the points table. In the first three matches of the season, Kohli has accumulated 97 runs at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 134.72. He kicked off the campaign with a brilliant unbeaten 59 off 36 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, hitting four boundaries and three sixes.
Kohli’s innings helped RCB comfortably chase down 175 with 22 balls remaining. In a challenging encounter at Chepauk against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he contributed a valuable 31 on a difficult pitch, leading RCB to a dominant 50-run victory. However, he managed just seven runs against Gujarat Titans, a match RCB went on to lose by eight wickets.
