IPL 2025: [WATCH]- Shreyas Iyer Wipes Face After Ness Wadia’s Cheek Kiss Post MI Win

Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer amusingly wiped his face after co-owner Ness Wadia kissed him on the cheek during a cake-cutting celebration, following his match-winning 87* against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2.

The light-hearted moment was caught on camera and shared widely on social media, with teammates also joining in the celebration. Coming in at number four, Shreyas Iyer guided the 204-run chase brilliantly after a solid start by Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya.

His unbeaten 41-ball innings, which included eight sixes, marked the end of MI’s streak of successfully defending 200+ totals in IPL history. Earlier, Mumbai posted a strong 203, led by Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir, both contributing 44 runs. You can watch the video here:

“I Admire the Fearlessness We Play With” – Shreyas Iyer

During the post-match presentation, Iyer described his leadership approach, saying he prefers not to talk too much and instead encourages his team to share their own ideas and take responsibility on the field. The 30-year-old highlighted that their fearless attitude helps them perform at their best.

“I just let them be, I don’t ask too much of them, I love the fearless nature that we bring to the table and also the ideas that they share. They would be having a fair set of ideas about how to play that situation. Even though they haven’t got that much of experience, they’ve got the brave nature and on such big occasions, it’s important that they gain more experience.”

The IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, starting at 7:30 PM IST. Both teams are aiming for their maiden IPL title, making this a historic and highly anticipated match.
