Axar Patel and David Miller rescue Delhi after early collapse
Delhi’s chase began in disastrous fashion, collapsing to 33/3 within the powerplay as Arshdeep Singh (2/21)removed KL Rahul and Sahil Parakh early. When Tristan Stubbs (12) was run out following a mix-up, DC were reeling at 74/4. However, Axar Patel and David Miller turned the game on its head with a fearless counter-attack.
Axar led from the front with a captain’s knock of 56 off 30 balls, while Miller hammered 51 off 28 balls, featuring four massive sixes. The tension peaked in the final overs as both set batters departed. With 17 needed off the last two overs, Ashutosh Sharma (24 off 10) and Madhav Tiwari (18 off 8)* displayed nerves of steel.
In a dramatic 19th over, Auqib Nabi sealed the victory by smashing a six off Yash Thakur to finish the game with an over to spare. For his all-round heroics on debut, Madhav Tiwari was named Player of the Match.
