How RCB and GT Have Fared in Previous IPL Finals?
RCB and GT will face off in the IPL 2026 final, with both teams aiming to add another title to their trophy collection. The Bengaluru franchise enters the contest as the defending champion, having ended its 17-year wait for an IPL crown by defeating Punjab Kings in the 2025 final. RCB have reached the IPL final on four previous occasions.
They finished runners-up against Deccan Chargers in 2009, Chennai Super Kings in 2011, and SunRisers Hyderabad in 2016 before finally lifting their maiden title in 2025. A victory this year would make them only the third team in IPL history to successfully defend their crown. So far, only Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have managed to win consecutive IPL titles.
Meanwhile, GT are set to appear in their third IPL final in five seasons. The Ahmedabad-based franchise won the trophy in its debut campaign in 2022 by beating Rajasthan Royals and followed it up with another final appearance in 2023, where they were defeated by Chennai Super Kings.
