Indian pacer Mohammed Shami needed to have a good IPL season with the Australis series following the tournament. As it turned out, he took 20 wickets for Kings XI Punjab and in the process, got himself ready for the big clash. he now is setting his sight on the ODI and the T20I series followed by the big Test series against a competitive Australian outfit. He said that he has no pressure ahead of the big series and is in the right zone.

Shami is currently in Australia busy in practice with his India teammates. The BCCI posted a video clip from Shami’s training session where he looks to be bowling in good rhythm.

“My performances for KXIP in IPL has given me a lot of confidence and put me in the right zone. The biggest advantage is that I can now prepare for the upcoming series without any pressure. There is no burden on me. I am very comfortable at the moment.” Shami told BCCI.TV on Saturday.

Mohammed Shami said that his preparations for the IPL began a lot earlier as he knew the tournament would happen at some stage.

“I had worked hard on my bowling and my fitness in the lockdown. I knew that IPL would take place sooner or later and I was preparing myself for it.”

Looking to Have a Good Test Series: Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami said that he is looking forward to the Test series and hoping for a good performance in the four-match series.

“We are going to have a long tour starting with the white ball followed by pink and red ball Tests. My focus area has been the red ball and I am working on my lengths and seam movement. I have always felt that once you start pitching the ball at the lengths you desire, you can succeed in different formats.”

Mohammed Shami is 20 short of 200 Test wickets and is eyeing a personal record against Australia as well. A good Test series will help him achieve both together.
