IRE vs IND: [WATCH]: Jasprit Bumrah Unleashes Powerful Deliveries During Practice Before The 1st T20I

India speedster Jasprit Bumrah is set to make a comeback to competitive cricket after an absence of almost 11 months in the forthcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. His last appearance was during the T20I series against Australia in September 2022.

Bumrah experienced a stress fracture in his back and went through a recovery process at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. This injury caused him to miss significant matches, including the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 held in Australia. The young squad, under the leadership of the right-arm fast bowler, is set to kick off the series against Ireland in Dublin on Friday, August 18th.

Before the opening T20I, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a brief video showing Jasprit Bumrah’s intense performance in the practice nets. In the video, the cricketer from Saurashtra showcased his skill by delivering a fierce bouncer followed by a yorker targeting the batsman’s toes.

Bumrah aims to find his rhythm ahead of the 2023 Asia Cup and the crucial ICC ODI World Cup, both slated for India later this year. Simultaneously, he will be at the helm of a youthful team as India’s management assesses players for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA next year.

The trio of T20Is is set to take place on August 18, 20, and 23 at Malahide in Dublin.

“Have some little bit of hiccups here and there” – Laxmipathy Balaji comments on Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback

Former Indian fast bowler Laxmipathy Balaji emphasized that Jasprit Bumrah might encounter some challenges on his highly anticipated comeback to international cricket in the Ireland series.

“Any back surgery, it’ll have some little bit of hiccups here and there,” Balaji told Sportstar. “But that is the maximum you can do. For conservative healing, if it has not healed, and you have the surgery option and to take it and then come back, it’s the last stage… So, everything is going to be new (for him), and again getting back, there will be challenges, but that is what makes individuals perform higher.”

Under Bumrah’s captaincy, India aims to return to the path of victory following their 2-3 defeat in the five-match T20I series against the West Indies.
