Irfan Pathan bids aideu to the game, announces retirement

Indian pace bowler known for his swing Irfan Pathan has announced retirement from the game. Irfan who was India”s first pace bowler to take hat-trick in test cricket.

Irfan who had made his debut under Sourav Ganguly in 2004 announced his retirement today on a live broadcast with Star Sports India.

Star Sports India intimidated the fans by putting a tweet about Irfan”s announcement.

Irfan Pathan is currently mentoring the Jammu and Kashmir team and is also seen doing Hindi commentary for Star Sports. Irfan Pathan was India”s go to bowler in the 2007 T20 world cup as the Baroda born lad has taken 3 wickets to help India win the Inaugural T20 World Cup .

He made his test debut for India in 2003 against Australia in Adelaide, he went on to play 29 test matches for India where he took 100 wickets and scored 1105 runs at an average of 31.57 and scored a century against Pakistan in that famous test match against Pakistan in Bangalore.

He played 120 One Day Internationals and took a total of 173 wickets which included 2 five-wicket hauls and scored 1544 runs at an average of around 24 with a highest of 83.

Pathan most memorable moment in test cricket came in 2006 when he took an hat-trick in the first over of the test match after he took the wickets of Salman Butt, Younis Khan and Mohammed Yousuf.

Pathan and Pakistan shared inseparable bond as he hit 3 consecutive sixes of Shahid Afridi in India”s first outing in the T20 world cup in 2007.

Irfan also played for Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions with 2017 being his last IPL season.

Irfan Pathan also played a few games for Middlesex county team.
