Religious intolerance is on the rise in India and more so in social media where people are venomously attacked by the so called keepers of the religion. Recent name in the list has been former India international Irfan Pathan who once again has been on the radar of the Islamic fundamentalists for celebrating Rakhi.

Recently, people from all parts of India from all religion, caste, and creed celebrated Rakshabandhan where a sister ties a band in his brother’s arm and the brother promises to protect her from all her problems. Irfan Pathan was also seen celebrating the festival as he posted a picture of his with a band on his arm on social media. He wrote, “Happy Rakhi everyone #rakshabandhan.”

However, the orthodox followers of Islam lashed out on him for celebrating a Hindu festival. A troll also tried to target him questioning his practice of un-Islamic things when his father is a moulvi.

This didn’t stop the left-arm bowler and he hit back to the trolls with another post on social media. He was quoted saying, “Using foul language, talking to each other rudely on basis of religion, it shows nothing but our own learning which some people have gathered in their minds over the years, stop this nonsense of putting each other down.”

Earlier, Mohammad Kaif was also trolled for posting a picture with his son while playing chess and doing Surya Namaskar. India pacer Mohammad Shami’s wife was also trolled for not wearing dresses according to Islam.
