Ishan Kishan Applauds India Vice-Captain’s Post After IND vs BAN Clash

Dropped Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan lauded Shubman Gill’s recent social media post following his stellar century in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy clash against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Stadium.

Batting first, Bangladesh struggled early, losing half their side for just 35 runs. India missed three catches, allowing Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali to rescue their team with a crucial 154-run stand for the sixth wicket. Jaker scored 68, while Towhid hit a superb 100 off 118 balls.

Mohammed Shami shone with the ball, taking five wickets as Bangladesh were bowled out for 228 in 49.4 overs. In reply, Indian captain Rohit Sharma (41) and vice-captain Shubman Gill put together a 69-run opening stand.

Though India lost three quick wickets—Virat Kohli (22), Shreyas Iyer (15), and Axar Patel (8)—Gill held firm at the crease. The 25-year-old reached his eighth century off 125 balls, finishing unbeaten on 101. He shared an unbroken 87-run stand with KL Rahul (41*), guiding India to a six-wicket win with 21 balls to spare.

Following the victory, Gill posted on Instagram with the caption:

“Hard work, faith and, love for the game.”

“One of my most satisfying innings” – Shubman Gill on century vs Bangladesh

Shubman Gill was instrumental in India’s triumph over Bangladesh in their 2025 Champions Trophy opener. He stayed unbeaten on 101 off 129 deliveries, striking nine boundaries and two sixes, as India clinched a six-wicket victory.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, the opener shared his thoughts on his innings, stating [as quoted by Cricbuzz]:

“Definitely one of my most satisfying innings that I have played and my first century in ICC events. Very satisfying and very happy with the way I performed.”

“When me and Rohit bhai went out there, we thought cutting the ball wasn’t easy because the balls which were outside the off-stump weren’t coming onto the bat that nicely. So I thought of using my feet to even the fast bowlers and tried to go over the circle.”

“When the spinners came on, me and Virat bhai were talking in the middle that it’s not easy to score singles off the front foot, so we’ll try to score singles off the back foot. And it’s not easy to hit down the ground, so we just keep rotating the strike,” he added.
