[WATCH]- Shubman Gill’s Brilliant Catch Dismisses Mehidy Hasan Miraz

In the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 match between India and Bangladesh, Mohammed Shami dismissed Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Shami delivered a hard-length ball outside the off stump, which Mehidy attempted to drive.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first on a pitch that appeared favorable for batting. However, their plans suffered an early setback as they lost their first wicket in the very first over. Their skipper soon followed, leaving the team struggling at 2/2 when Mehidy Hasan Miraz walked in.

As a key batter for Bangladesh, much was expected from him to stabilize the innings and shift the momentum in their favour. The right-handed batter started well and built a steady partnership with Tanzid Hasan Tamim. However, Shami struck once again in the seventh over.

The ball took the outside edge, and Shubman Gill, positioned at gully, executed a sharp catch to send Mehidy back to the pavilion. This dismissal put Bangladesh under pressure early in the match, giving India an upper hand. You can watch the video here:

The dismissal left Bangladesh struggling at 26/3 within the seventh over, putting them in serious trouble. India will aim to capitalize on their strong start and set the tone for a successful campaign in the tournament.

India are missing their key pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy after he was ruled out due to a back stress injury, dealing a significant setback to the team. Meanwhile, they have kicked off their campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai.

Reacting to Bumrah’s absence, Bangladeshi all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz admitted feeling relieved not to face the star fast bowler in the tournament.

“We are very happy (that he is not coming here)”, Miraz said in a video posted by the ICC.
