Wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan missed the fifth consecutive Ranji Trophy match for Jharkhand, which kicked off on Friday, February 2 against Manipur at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur. He has been out of action since the T20I series against Australia in November last year.
Ishan Kishan was part of the Indian squad for the tour to South Africa. However, he voluntarily walked out from the tour citing mental fatigue. The wicket-keeper batter requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for leave. There is no information about his return to the sport. He also missed the Afghanistan series and is also not part of the ongoing test series against England.
“Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan requested for a break, which we agreed in South Africa. We supported it. He has not yet made himself available. I don’t think he has made himself available as yet. When he is available, he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection,” Rahul Dravid had said earlier.
The Jharkhand cricketer has not communicated with the Jharkhand team about his availability for the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He missed his fifth consecutive Ranji Trophy match. When contacted by PTI, the Jharkhand State Association said,
“No, Ishan hasn’t contacted us or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI,” JSCA secretary Debasis Chakraborty said, as quoted by the PTI news agency.
