Ishan Kishan Shows Discontent Over T20I Squad Inclusion; Trains With Pandya Brothers At Kiran More Academy – Reports
Ishan Kishan

Team India batter Ishan Kishan has resumed practice in Baroda with Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya at the Kiran More Academy. His absence from competitive cricket has become a talking point with no update on his return to the sport. Moreover, it has been reported, that he was upset with Jitesh Sharma’s selection in T20Is, which can complicate his place in the playing XI also.

However, according to a report by Cricbuzz, Ishan Kishan was spotted working out and practising in Baroda. He has been there for the past couple of weeks, training at the Kiran More Academy in Baroda, along with the Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal. However, there has been no update on his return to action.

Former cricketer Kiran More confirmed the news to Cricbuzz that Ishan Kishan is training at his academy. However, he did not disclose the timeline of the wicket-keeper batter’s return to competitive cricket. Kiran is currently in Mumbai with the Mumbai Indians’ Women’s Premier League (WPL) side.

Ishan Kishan last played an International match in November against Australia. He was part of the Indian Team in South Africa for the T20I series. However, he did not get a game. He then opted out of the test series and has not played any competitive cricket since then. He has also missed the Ranji Trophy matches for Jharkhand.

The choice is his: Rahul Dravid on Ishan Kishan’s return

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid indicated that Ishan Kishan needs to play some cricket to be back in consideration for a place in the Indian squad. He expressed that they won’t be forcing his return. Dravid added that the decision had been left to the wicketkeeper. Following India’s win in the second Test, the head coach said,

“I just don’t want to go on labouring about the Ishan Kishan point. Whenever he is ready, I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket, I said whenever he is ready… he needs to play some cricket and come back. The choice is his. We are not forcing him to do anything. We are in touch with him.”

“We know what it is. He hasn’t yet started playing, right? At the moment, it’s not something that we would consider. He is maybe not ready. He decides when he wants to be ready,” he added.
