Young all-rounder Deepak Hooda was handed the debut cap in the 1st ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad. He had an impressive debut and continued his good run in the series decider on West Indies.

Hooda has been in the reckoning for quite some time and finally got his due. He received his debut cap from former Indian captain Virat Kohli ahead of the series opener. Deepak Hooda stressed that it was his dream to get the cap from MS Dhoni or Kohli.

In a conversation with Suryakumar Yadav for bcci.tv, Deepak Hooda said:

“I made my debut in the first ODI, it was an amazing feeling. You always work hard for that, before the match I spoke to you (Suryakumar Yadav). I feel blessed to be a part of the side. It was my childhood dream to get cap from either MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli. Getting the cap from Kohli was an amazing feeling. I worked on side lining the distraction and work on my process.”

Deepak Hooda scored an unbeaten 26 in the 1st ODI against the West Indies and helped the Rohit Sharma-led outfit to beat their opposition by 6 wickets.

In the 2nd ODI too, Hooda contributed a vital 25-ball 29 and helped India post 237 runs which in the end made the difference as the home side secured a crucial 44-run win in the 2nd ODI to seal the series.

With 2-0 up in the series, the third and final ODI is scheduled to take place on February 11 (Friday) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
