MS Dhoni is one of the greatest captains and finishers in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been the face of CSK over the years and carried them to four IPL titles. Speaking at the toss, Dhoni revealed his future plans with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

MS Dhoni will turn 41 years old in July this year. Several cricket fans were concerned if he would be seen in the Chennai Super Kings jersey next year or not. When Ian Bishop asked Dhoni if he would play next IPL season or not, the CSK skipper gave a positive reply to it which has become the headlines on social media.

“Definitely, I will play next season. It won’t be nice to CSK fans to not play at Chepauk, I have got a lot of love. It will be like a thank you to all. Whether it will be my last year or not, it’s too early to decide,” MS Dhoni said.

It would be a fairy tale ending to Dhoni’s IPL career if he plays his last match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in front of the Chennai Super Kings crowd.

“Want to groom players but also give them enough opportunity to develop” – MS Dhoni on exclusion of Rajvardhan Hangargekar

After winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni elected to bat first. CSK made one change to their playing in this match. Ambati Rayudu replaced Shivam Dube in the playing XI. Throwing light on Rajvardhan Hangargekar warming the bench throughout the season, Dhoni said:

“You want to give batters enough time, given our combination. Just want them to express themselves. The important thing is to give them the time to develop. Want to groom players but also give them enough opportunity to develop. Just for the sake of giving time to players, we aren’t playing a lopsided team”
