Team India’s suffered an embarrassing loss against England in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval. They were below par in all the departments in the game, resulting in a 10-wicket loss. Following the semi-final debacle, several questions have been raised regarding the future of senior players in the T20I format. However, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has expressed that it is too early to talk about it.

Several players in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup were over the age of 30, such as the likes of the Indian team has several players over the age of 30 like Rohit, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Mohammed Shami. With the next T20 mega-event to be held after two years, the future of these players is uncertain. Speaking about it, Rahul Dravid said at the post-match press conference,

“Well, it’s too early to talk about it right now just after a semifinal game. These guys have been terrific performers for us. Yeah, as you said, we have a couple of years to reflect on it. There are some really good quality players here, so absolutely not the right time to talk about this stuff or think about this stuff right now. We’ll have enough games, enough matches as we go on ahead, and India will try and build and prepare for the next World Cup.”

We were outplayed and outclassed today: Rahul Dravid

Head coach Rahul Dravid further spoke about India’s loss against England in the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup. He accepted that they were outplayed and outclassed by the Jos Buttler-led team. Dravid added that India faltered to put enough runs on the board in the first innings.

“Probably would have certainly liked to go a couple of steps further. But just outplayed, and outclassed today. They were the better team in all departments really. The score line showed that. Runs on the board were something (needed) in a semifinal. We had been batting well. We were one of those teams that were, even in these conditions, scoring 180, 180 plus. I think we had done it two or three times in this tournament, were playing well,” he said.
