Everloving cricket career of 14 years (2009-2022), Guptill played 367 matches for the Black Caps across all formats, scoring 23 international centuries and creating many records in white-ball formats of cricket.

In his heartfelt goodbye to international cricket, New Zealand cricket star Martin Guptill reflects on his amazing 14-year career with the Black Caps. Guptill thanked New Zealand Cricket in a moving speech for planning a unique ceremony to commemorate his retirement.

“It was really cool. I’ve been lucky enough to play a lot of cricket here, whether it be for Auckland or for New Zealand. To be out here again in front of the fans that have made the game so much fun out here, it’s been pretty special. I love Eden Park. From when it was facing the other way, the pitch, to now, I’ve always found it a great week, a great place to play cricket, a great place to bat,” Martin Guptill said.

“I’ve just always had so much fun here. It’s been pretty overwhelming, to be honest. It’s been fantastic, and thank you, New Zealand Cricket, for organizing this.” Martin Guptill Expresses His Thoughts After Retiring From International Cricket

“The Blackcaps have been such a big part of my life, 14 years. It’s quite a long time when you think about it and you look back over the career. It’s gone so quickly, but I made some great friends over that time. It was so cool to actually be part of it. My wife, Laura, she’s been so amazing over the years. The sacrifices she’s made for not only me but us, our family, have been really special while still working in such a full-time job and it’s a high-pressure job that she’s in” Martin Guptill added.
