Jacques Kallis, a former all-rounder in the South African cricket team, is one of the front runners for the position of skipper for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. The team has said to be desperately engaged in negotiations with Kallis to take up a mentoring role before the next major auction. Kallis is one of the players who played a very active role when the team was winning the championship; hence, he must be close to them.
He began by taking charge of the team in 2015, following Trevor Bayliss stepping up to the position of head coach of the English team. That year, Kallis worked as the batting consultant of the Knight Riders, which proved to be quite beneficial for the team’s success.
It is because of the reasons that Kallis has the kind of experience and achievement with the club that perhaps the group can get leadership and experience from the selection of Kallis as the head coach of the team.

Two popular candidates are aspiring for the post of coach, namely Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis, and it is said that the Kolkata Knight Riders are entertaining the two. Following a string of bad results, Ponting, the former Australian captain, was sacked from his job as chief coach of the Delhi Capitals.
He is a serious candidate. Ponting has, however, said that he would love to continue coaching in this Indian Premier League. He took the Delhi Capitals to the playoffs for the first time in the year 2020 and reached the final, but the Delhi Capitals lost to the champion Mumbai Indians.
The Knight Riders are on the lookout for an experienced coach for their club, and since Ponting has all the experience and has a lot to offer, The franchise is going to be faced with a hard decision to choose between Kallis and Ponting, and the team would only be richer with the leadership qualities in either case.
It has also been heard some other rumors that the franchise has requested Kumar Sangakkara to become their mentor. This was established after successfully establishing that the Rajasthan Royals’ director of cricket is already in in-depth negotiations with the team while he hopes to explore options in other teams that interest him. But RR retained him in the same position with no regard for any of these things.
