Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss more matches in the IPL 2025 season for Mumbai Indians. As per a report by ESPNCricinfo, Bumrah will not play in the upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants and is also uncertain for the next clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7. He has been undergoing rehabilitation since the start of the year and is currently training at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Although he is gradually getting closer to full fitness, Bumrah is taking a cautious approach to ensure that he is completely ready before returning to competitive cricket. He will only be allowed to play in the IPL after receiving a fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team. With a crucial five-match Test series against England scheduled immediately after the IPL, managing his fitness and workload has become very important for both the BCCI and Team India.
Wasim Jaffer Shares His Concerns
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has expressed concerns about India’s recent Test performances. Speaking to Boria Majumdar on Revsportz, Jaffer mentioned that he is slightly worried about the form of the Indian team, especially after their 0-3 series loss at home to New Zealand and a 1-3 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

These results pushed India to third place in the World Test Championship 2023–25 standings. Jaffer pointed out that India’s batting lineup has not performed consistently in overseas conditions and said that the team could be in trouble if key bowlers like Bumrah or Mohammad Shami are unavailable during the England tour. He emphasized the need for the team to improve, particularly when facing the Dukes ball in English conditions, and said he hopes the team will be able to regroup and perform better.
India Gears Up for England Tour
India’s upcoming Test series in England, starting June 20 at Leeds, is particularly significant as it marks the beginning of their World Test Championship 2025–27 campaign. India last won a Test series in England in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid.
Their most recent tour in 2022 ended in a 2-2 draw, after the rescheduled final Test was played under Bumrah’s leadership, with India having earlier led the series 2-1 under Virat Kohli. With history and form in mind, the series will be a major challenge, and India will need all their key players fit and ready to make a strong start.
