Star fast bowler Jofra Archer has extended his contract with Sussex until the end of the 2022 season. As a result, his bond with Sussex remains intact, where he has been playing since he first stepped in England in 2016. Playing for the club, Archer has gone onto represent England across formats and be one of the leading pacers in the country.
Archer made his debut for the club in July 2016, and has since picked 196 wickets in 97 innings across formats. Meanwhile, in first-class cricket, Jofra Archer has scalped 131 wickets in 28 matches. Currently, the young fast bowler is out of action with a low-grade stress fracture to his elbow. He is also likely to miss his stint in the Indian Premier League which will be a massive blow to the Rajasthan Royals.

Meanwhile, the Barbados-born fast bowler seemed extremely happy after extending the contract with Sussex. He is also excited to turn up for his club and expressed that it is a special feeling to wear the club's jersey, who gave him the opportunity when he had nothing.
"Sussex gave me my opportunity right at the beginning of my career, so I am very happy to commit long term to the club," Archer was quoted as saying on the Sussex's website on Thursday (March 5). "I really do enjoy playing with everyone here at Sussex and it was really nice to come back down last year to play a few games with the lads.
"It's the same club that I left it as and it's nice to know nothing has changed. Sometimes people sit in my space in the dressing room now, but that's fine! It most definitely still feels special to pull on the Sussex shirt," he added.

On the other hand, Sussex's head coach Jason Gillespie seemed extremely happy to have Jofra Archer in the setup till 2022. Hailing Archer, the former Aussie cricketer said that they will be keen to play a significant role in helping him get better in the coming days.
"We're delighted that Jofra will continue to be with us at Sussex," Jason Gillespie, Sussex's head coach, said. "I'm really looking forward to having him play for us when his England commitments allows. He loves playing for Sussex – he's like a kid in a candy store! We all love having him around, and seeing his improvements as a player has been great. Hopefully, we can play a role in helping him continue to get better," he added.
