Stand-in England skipper Jos Buttler will join the Rajasthan Royals squad for IPL 2021 on March 29 (Monday). Ahead of that, the England wicketkeeper-batsman will lead his team in the ODI series decider against India on Sunday. The three-match ODI series is tied at 1-1 after England won the second ODI on Friday.
England had previously lost the Test and the T20I series after taking the lead. A win for India in the third game will mean that they will win every format against the visitors on this tour. However, the visiting side will be desperate to finish the tour on a good note and return with the ODI trophy.
Jos Buttler has emphasised the importance of the IPL in shaping up the career of various England players. He further said that skipping the IPL is not a choice for him keeping in mind the next World T20 to be played in India.
Jos Buttler To Join Rajasthan Royals squad on Monday
“Yes (when asked whether Buttler will join RR squad on Monday). To an extent, this year’s IPL will be most important. I have played a number of IPLs, have gotten used to the conditions having played a lot of cricket here. We also had one T20 World Cup in India as well in 2016” Buttler said TO ANI.
Elaborating further on the IPL, Buttler said: “After this game, we travel to Mumbai to join up with Rajasthan Royals squad. Our first game is not until the 12th, a little bit of downtime between now and then, so we can have some time away from the game and refresh ourselves. There are challenges about the bubble life and those kinds of things, it is about managing those things. IPL is a huge tournament and really excited to play in that. It gives you a lot of energy just the thought about playing in this tournament.”

Jos Buttler also confirmed that he would be having his family around for this year’s IPL and thanked both BCCI and Rajasthan Royals for looking after the players’ welfare.
“Rajasthan Royals have been great again with assisting me in having my family here for the IPL. Last time, they were there in Dubai as well, the franchises and BCCI have been great in making this possible, it’s all complicated at the moment, but having families around is a big plus,” said Buttler.
They will kick off their IPL 2021 campaign against Punjab Kings in Mumbai on April 12. With none of the teams playing at their own home venues, all the teams will play across six venues throughout the season. Royals will play five games in Mumbai, four games in Delhi, three in Kolkata, and two in Bangalore.
