Mankading has been one of the most debated mode of dismissal in world cricket at present. Ravichandran Ashwin mankading Jos Buttler during a game between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals in the last season of IPL ignited the debated about the morality of this dismissal. Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood took a funny dig recently when he picked one Indian batsman he would like to 'Mankad' when India tour Australia later this year.

Most recently, in the recent U19 World Cup in South Africa, one of the Afghani bowlers dismissed Mohammad Huraira by Mankading, thus sparking off the old debate yet again. Josh Hazlewood has ignited the debate once again but this time in a sarcastic manner.

India will travel to Australia at the end of this year. However, it appears that Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has already begun preparing for the series. During the awards ceremony few nights back, several Australian players, both male and female were asked what their opinion on the mode of dismissal was. Most of the players were rather accepting of it. However, Josh Hazlewood went one step ahead and named the player he wanted to use it on.

Hazlewood had no hesitation in naming India’s No. 3 in Test, Cheteshwar Pujara, as the batter he would like to ‘Mankad'. The Saurashtra cricketer proved to be a thorn in their sides the last time India travelled down under. He finished the 4-match Test series as the leading run-scorer. Pujara amassed 521 runs from 7 innings at an astonishing average of 74.42 including 3 centuries and a half-century.

”I reckon I’ll save that one for the next time … at Pujara,’ replied Hazlewood when asked at the awards night.
