Justin Langer has done an excellent job after taking over the baton of the head coach of the Australian team in the wake of the sandpaper gate incident. Starting from scratch, Langer helped the Aussies retain the Ashes urn last year for the first time since 2001. However, the former opener has his eyes set on a big series scheduled to follow later this year.
After a difficult transition phase post the ball-tampering scandal, Australia on Friday displaced India as number one side in Test format in the ICC Rankings. However, Justing Langer doesn’t want to take things for granted and is aware that things can change in a split second. But Langer, who is known for his good management recognised that they have done well in the last few years both on and off the field.

“We recognise how fluid these rankings are, but at this time it was certainly nice to put a smile on our faces,” Langer told Cricket Australia website.
“We’ve got lots of work to do to get to be the team that we want to be, but hopefully over the last couple of years not only have we performed well on the field, but also off the field,” Langer added.
Furthermore, Justin Langer highlighted that beating India at home and then in Australia will be the main aim going forward. Along with it, the Aussie head coach has also set his eyes on the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship. India currently lead the points chart with 360 while Australia sit on the second spot with 296 points.

“Certainly a goal for us has been the World Test Championship … but ultimately, we have to beat India in India and we’ve got to beat them when they come back (to Australia).
“You can only judge yourself as being the best if you beat the best and we’ve got some really tough opposition to come,” Langer concluded.
