The West Australian newspaper is at it again, taking another shot at Virat Kohli on their back page. The publication mocked the Indian batter after Day 1 (Thursday, December 26) of the ongoing fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Melbourne.
After Day 2 (Friday, December 27), the newspaper doubled down, featuring an image of the former Indian captain with the bold, capitalized title ‘KARMA.’ The back page further reads, “Clown Kohli’s horror day at the MCG,” referencing his batting performance. Virat Kohli was dismissed for 36, managing a start but failing to build on it.
The newspaper also claimed that Kohli ruined his young teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings with the run-out, calling it a miserable day for him. They further stated that Australian fans had the last laugh as Kohli failed to deliver with the bat.

Australian paper dubbed Virat Kohli ‘Clown Kohli’ after Day 1 of the 4th BGT Test
The West Australian newspaper harshly criticized Virat Kohli after Day 1 of the 4th BGT 2024-25 Test in Melbourne, labeling him ‘Clown Kohli’ following a controversial shoulder barge with debutant Sam Konstas.
The back page featured an image of Kohli with a joker nose ball, which reappeared in the bottom corner after Day 2. The newspaper labeled him a ‘sook’ for allegedly ‘deliberately bumping’ into Sam Konstas and noted he avoided a ban that could have sidelined him for the Sydney Test.
Following the incident, the Australian media, along with several former cricketers, have been openly criticizing Virat Kohli for his conduct on the field, particularly towards the 19-year-old debutant, Sam Konstas. They have expressed disapproval of his actions, questioning his sportsmanship and the way he interacted with the young player.
The incident has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning whether Kohli’s behaviour was appropriate in a professional cricketing environment.
