Kings XI Punjab Retained Nine Players; Releases Yuvraj Singh, Aaron Finch ahead of 2019 IPL Auction

Before the 2019 IPL, Kings XI Punjab have announced that Yuvraj Singh will be released from their squad. They have traded Marcus Stoinis and bought Mandeep Singh. In the last year, Yuvraj Singh was bought by Kings XI Punjab.

Kings XI Punjab has released 11 players for IPL 2019 season which includes Yuvraj Singh, Aaron Finch, Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma, Barinder Sran, Ben Dwarshuis, Manoj Tiwary, Akashdeep Nath, Pradeep Sahu, Mayank Dagar and Manzoor Dar.

Yuvraj Singh was bought by Kings XI Punjab last year and could not perform to expectations scoring just 65 runs from 8 matches.

IPL 2019 Auction To Take Place At This Venue

In the retention list, Kings XI have included Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal, R Ashwin, Ankit Rajpoot, Andrew Tye, Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Kings XI Punjab started brilliantly in the start of the season but could not sustain the same performance and were knocked out in group stages.

Kings XI Punjab has played from the first edition of IPL since its inception in 2008. Their best performance came in the 2014 edition finishing runners-up. They lost the finals to Kolkata Knight Riders. KL Rahul performed exceptionally well in last year edition scoring 659 runs from 14 matches with 6 half-centuries to his name. He played some brilliant knocks last year but could help Kings XI Punjab side qualify for the knockout stage.

Out of the released players, Axar Patel played 9 matches and scored 80 runs, picking up only 3 wickets. Aaron Finch played 10 matches and scored 134 runs with no half centuries. It was a disappointing performance by Kings XI Punjab franchise after such a great start to the season.

This year Kings XI Punjab have included Mike Hesson as their head coach. Mithun Minhas will be doing as the Assistant coach job while Venkatesh Prasad doing the bowling job.

RETAINED: Lokesh Rahul, Chris Gayle, Andrew Tye, Mayank Agarwal, Ankit Rajpoot, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Karun Nair, David Miller and Ravichandran Ashwin

RELEASED: Aaron Finch, Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Barinder Sran, Ben Dwarshuis, Manoj Tiwary, Akshdeep Nath, Pardeep Sahu, Mayank Dagar and Manzoor Dar

TRADED: Marcus Stoinis for Mandeep Singh
