KKR Co-Owner Shah Rukh Khan Brings Some Levity To The Dressing Room Following The Defeat Against RR

KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan boosted the spirits of the players and support staff with an uplifting speech in the dressing room following the disappointing loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

In their batting innings, KKR set a formidable total of 223/6 in 20 overs, largely due to Sunil Narine’s impressive maiden T20 century. Despite their strong performance, KKR maintained dominance for most of the second innings, with RR facing difficulties at 121/6 in the 13th over.

However, an extraordinary performance by Jos Buttler, who also scored a century, propelled Rajasthan to victory, leaving the KKR players disheartened.

Following the match, Shah Rukh Khan, who was present, delivered an inspiring message to the team. He particularly urged mentor Gautam Gambhir not to dwell too much on the defeat.

“The main thing is the energy in all of us. And I think we have great energy on the field. We have lovely energy here. Personally also, everybody is bonding together. So please continue to. All the very best.”

“Honestly, it’s a proud day, the way we played. I think all of us, I won’t take individual names, that’s been taken. GG, you don’t feel down. We would all be bouncing back. It is God’s plan for today,” Shah Rukh said.

The loss kept KKR in second place on the points table, with four victories in six matches. It also marked their initial defeat at home this season, following two consecutive wins at Eden Gardens against the SunRisers Hyderabad and the Lucknow Super Giants.

“Today, we didn’t merit the loss”- Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan continued to motivate the KKR players by urging them to sustain the momentum of this season and expressing his belief that they didn’t merit the loss in the RR match.

“There are days in our lives, in sports, especially, when we don’t deserve to lose. And there are also days when we don’t deserve to win. But there are days like that when things turn around.”

“Today, we didn’t deserve to lose, all of us played extremely well. We have to be very very proud of ourselves. Please don’t feel sad or down. We feel happy as well when we come into the changing room and we are on a high. So maintain the high,” Shah Rukh Khan said.

KKR now have five days off to recover from the tough loss before their next match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday, April 21st.
