Aakash Chopra, Wasim Jaffer Lead Wishes As KL Rahul Smashes Fifth ODI Ton

KL Rahul finally was dismissed for 108.

KL Rahul roared back to form in as he scored his fifth ODI century in the second ODI against England. After a forgetful run of form in the T20I series, rahul batted his way to form in the first ODI scoring an unbeaten 62. In the second game, he scored his fifth ton as he played some classy shots during his innings. It was KL Rahul who last scored an ODI century for India back in January 2020 against New Zealand.

Rahul walked into bat at number four and had a good start to his innings. India lost their openers in the second game early and that was when Rahul and Virat Kohli forged a partnership. The duo added 121 run stand before Adil Rashid accounted for Virat Kohli’s wicket. England skipper Jos Buttler had earlier dropped Kohli on 35 and finally dismissed him on 66.

KL Rahul then added 113 runs with Rishabh Pant who scored a quickfire fifty on his ODI return for Team India. Pant played some outrageous shots in the process as Rahul took a backseat. Rahul finally was dismissed for 108. Shortly after,  Pant was dismissed for 77. India lost the toss yet again as it was Virat Kohli’s fifth straight loss as far as the toss is concerned.

Rahul’s welcome knock came after he was criticised for failing in the preceding T20I series scoring just 15 runs in four matches which included two ducks. He was dropped in the last T20I which India won to win the series 3-2.

Meanwhile, addressing the pre-match press conference ahead of the second ODI, KL Rahul opened up on his new-found form and the dry run that he went through previously.

“As a batsman I feel being in the middle and playing games is what keeps me in good touch. Having not got as much game time as I would have liked, I mean I won’t say it did not play on my mind, but somehow or the other you have to find a way to be best prepared, be it at training or open net sessions,” KL Rahul said on the eve of the second ODI.
