Kings XI Punjab losing run continued as they went down against Chennai Super Kings by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The bowlers had an off-day in business as Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis made the most of the opportunities on offer. Punjab skipper KL Rahul vouched to come back harder and better and is hopeful that they will bounce back.

Meanwhile, chasing a moderate total of 179 runs, Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis shared a match-winning partnership to take their side home. Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul looked clueless and the opening duo dominated the proceedings.

Watson remained unbeaten on 83 while du Plessis contributed 87 runs as Chennai Super Kings surged over the rope with 14 balls to spare. Chennai are finally back in the fray as they push Kings XI Punjab in the last of the points table.

Earlier in the day, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul started like they usually do. But Rahul – apart from that one over where he hit one six and two fours – was really conservative. The Kings XI Punjab skipper shared two good partnerships with Mayank and Mandeep Singh, who is playing his first game.

Nicholas Pooran looked in serious touch, middling some lusty hits. But a brilliant 18th over from Shardul Thakur where he removed Pooran and Rahul changed the complexion of the match. Chennai pulled things back as Kings XI Punjab managed to only post 178 runs which were not enough to for them to secure a win.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, KL Rahul admitted that they have gone wrong in execution. He also vouched to come back harder and better in the upcoming matches.

“It’s hard being on the losing side for so many games on the trot. We need to come back harder and better. There’s no rocket science where we are going wrong, it’s the execution. They are all professional players, so we can expect them to come back better. We need to keep training harder, practising and try to win the key moments in the game. Hopefully we’ll be able to bounce back,” KL Rahul said.
