The flamboyant Team India opener KL Rahul has turned the tide in his favour in grand fashion in the last few months. After a string of low score which saw him lose his Test spot last year, Rahul has returned with a bang with consistent runs in the limited-overs. And currently, he is one of the mainstays of India’s batting.

Ever since KL Rahul donned the wicket-keeping gloves ahead of Rishabh Pant, the batsman from Karnataka has been oozing with confidence. His self-belief has done wonders for KL Rahul, who has transformed his batting totally. Currently, he is the frontrunner ahead of Shikhar Dhawan to open the innings for India alongside Rohit Sharma in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

Furthermore, Rahul has also cemented his berth in No. 5 position in fifty-overs cricket. Having started this new year in the blazing form, KL Rahul will hope to slot back into the Test side. Former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta has also heaped praise on the Karnataka batsman stating that Rahul deserves to play all the three formats.

“KL Rahul should play all 3 formats. He is a quality batsman and a good wicketkeeper. My assessment is he is a must-have in the T20 side. Look, we are talking about 2 T20 World Cups and he is an important part of the Indian T20 side,” Deep Dasgupta told indiatoday.in.

“Rahul is too good a player to not be playing all 3 formats. In T20s, yes he can be a very good wicketkeeper-batsman — I have been saying this for a long time. In ODIs, it’s a 50-50 call. He has been doing well at No. 5 and it can be decided if he should keep wickets or not. Rahul should be playing Test cricket as well. But he is not going to keep wickets in Tests,” he added.

Meanwhile, amid the coronavirus outbreak, all cricketing activities have come to a standstill. KL Rahul will be itching to go out on the field and carry on his swashbuckling form across different formats of the game.
