Indian opener KL Rahul performed exceptionally well for India in the first Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Meanwhile, he carried his great form in the second Test at Lord’s, London and smashed a century. Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has showered praise on Rahul for his sensational batting.
Notably, KL Rahul was not India’s first-choice opener for the Test series against England. He only got the opportunity to open the innings with Rohit Sharma in the absence of Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill. Meanwhile, He took the opportunity with both hands and smashed good runs in both matches.
In the first match, he scored a sensational half-century in the first innings. However, he performed even better and scored a century in the first innings of the second Test.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ramiz Raja elaborated Rahul’s playing style and labeled his innings as ‘top-class innings’. He asserted:
“KL Rahul played a brilliant technical inning. He trusted his defense and that is crucial if you want to be successful in England. KL Rahul didn’t show from any aspect that he is just a good white-ball player. He changed gears with perfection and showed how to bat in English conditions. It was a top-class innings from a mental aspect.”
“KL Rahul has set a great platform and India have a huge advantage” – Ramiz Raja
When the Day 1 of Lord’s Test ended India was at 276 for 3 with KL Rahul (127*) and Ajinkya Rahane (1*) on the crease. India was looking in a very great position to dominate the match. Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer feels like if India managed to put 350-450 on the board, England will be in a difficult position. Raja stated:
“KL Rahul has set a great platform and India have a huge advantage. If they are able to post 350-450 runs then it will be difficult for England to survive in this Test match.”
