Suryakumar Yadav is one of the star players of Indian cricket in recent times. While he smashes all over the park with ease, it is his fitness that helps him always to do better. And, the world’s number one T20 batsman takes special care of his food intake and other things as well.
Notably, he stays away from cheat meals (high-calorie food at some point during the diet) and takes less carbohydrate food as well, while taking a little caffeine too. However, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 225 runs in five innings of the T20 World Cup and he is also in the top three in the list of highest run-getters as well.
Meanwhile, Shweta Bhatia, a well-known dietician and sports nutritionist works with the batter and she tells how he remains so fit.
Shweta said, “We have been working with him for the past one year. He wanted to improve his overall fitness. I helped improve her understanding of sports nutrition.”
Shweta further told that the agenda of his diet is based on 5 points. The first is improvement in performance during the training and match. Secondly, as well as most importantly, maintaining the level of body fat (12 to 15 per cent) as per the players. Third, staying energetic with food and drink as well. Fourth, to work on the urge to eat continuously and last but not least, help in recovery which is very essential to the player as well. Meanwhile, Shweta has reduced his carbohydrate intake level to increase his flexibility to achieve better results also.
“The latest research shows how low-carb consumption can maintain and enhance performance,” Shweta said, “We removed most of the carbohydrates from Surya’s diet. His diet includes healthy fats like almonds and omega three. He takes in non-vegetarian products (eggs, meats, fish), a lot of protein from dairy and fiber carbohydrates from vegetables.”
However, Shweta is proud that Suryakumar Yadav gives a lot of attention to fitness and also the diet which rarely includes ‘cheat meals’ like ice cream, mutton biryani or pizza as well.
