A few days before the deadline for submitting the list of retained and released players for franchises ahead of IPL 2023, several trades are being made. Gujarat Titans, the winners of the previous edition of the IPL, have made two trades, letting go of Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Ferguson and Gurbaz will now ply trade for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming edition of the IPL. Ferguson was part of KKR between 2019 and 2021 and will return to his old franchise. The likes of fast bowlers like Pat Cummins, Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee and Shivam Mavi Ferguson will bolster KKR’s pace bowling attack. Ferguson picked up 12 wickets in the last season and clocked the fastest delivery of the season at 157.3 kmph.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz who came as a replacement for Jason Roy and didn’t get a single game to play is also going to the Knight Riders. In T20Is, the 20-year-old has scored 896 runs at a strike rate of 138.27 and is an integral member of the Afghanistan top order.Â
RCB trade Jason Behrendorff to Mumbai India ahead of IPL 2023
Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff has been traded to Mumbai Indians from the Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB bought him for 75 lakhs. The paceman has already represented Chennai Super Kings (2021), Mumbai Indians (2018-19) and RCB(2022).
In his five IPL games, he has picked up five wickets. He has represented Australia in 9 T20I matches taking seven wickets at an economy of 8.5. Behrendoff didn’t get a single game last season and was part of the Mumbai Indians’ 2019 winning campaign.Â
In other news, Kieron Pollard has been released from Mumbai Indians, whereas Chennai Super Kings has retained the services of Ravindra Jadeja amidst all the rumours surfacing. Shikhar Dhawan has taken over the captaincy reins from Mayank Agrawal.Â
