Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been competing healthily for some time now in the shortest format of the game. Particularly, in the recently concluded T20I series against the Carribiens, the leadership group broke a lot of records.
With Rohit and Kohli scoring almost the same scores yesterday (71 & 70), the duo is now the joint-highest scorers in T20I”s. They now have 2633 runs each in their T20I bag. Though the averages are different, their aggressive approach is what mattered the most for the team.
However, there are also other records barring the above.
400– Rohit Sharma became the first Indian cricketer to hit 400 sixes across all formats of the game
24– Virat Kohli now has over 24 half-centuries to his name, the maximum in the shortest format. Rohit has 19
12– Virat now has over 12 Man of the Match awards in T20I”s, he joins Mohammed Nabi in the list
The intention has been very clear from the Indian side to play attacking cricket throughout the series. This gives us a clue on India”s roadmap for the T20 WC next year.
Other records
On the other hand, KL Rahul also became the third-fastest player to reach the 1000 T20I run mark.
The series would have definitely been a learning experience for KL, who was batting lower the order before. As an opener, he gave the firepower in both the games that India triumphed.
This win for India is also the 7th consecutive International series win against the Carribiens.
The entire focus shifts now to the three-match ODI series which gets underway this Sunday. Will the visitors give a tough fight in the ODI series? Will Kohli add few centuries to his name? We will get to know in days to come.
