“Leave It To BCCI” – Sourav Ganguly On Virat Kohli’s Comments From His Press Conference

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had a mellowed response to Virat Kohli’s comments from his pre-departure press conference to South Africa, He has cleared the air regarding his participation in the ODI series and also spoke about his being released of ODI and T20I captaincy. Ganguly, on the other hand, said that the BCCI will deal with the matter in their own way and deal with it appropriately.

Virat Kohli said that he was told about being sacked as ODI captain just one and a half hours before the BCCI made the announcement public. He also said that there was no prior communication by the BCCI before taking the call. He has also denied Ganguly’s statements of the board requesting him to continue as India’s T20I skipper.

“Whatever was said about the communication that happened about the decision that was made was inaccurate. I was contacted one and half hours before selection meeting on 8th for Test series and there was no prior communication to me at all since I announced my decision on T20 captaincy,” Kohli said in his press conference ahead of the South Africa tour.

Meanwhile, Ganguly’s comments contradicts what Kohli has said in his recent press conference.

Asked if the board would hold a press conference or release a statement, he replied in the negative.

Sourav Ganguly-Virat Kohli Saga Gets Murkier

“No statements, no press conference. We will deal with it appropriately, leave it to (the) BCCI” Ganguly said.

There were reports that said Virat Kohli wanted a break from the game which is he thought about skipping the ODI series against South Africa. This was after the BCCI had announced Rohit Sharma as India’s new ODI skipper.

However, Kohli came out and openly denied saying any such comment. He said that he is always available for selection and whatever is being written by the media are all wrong.

“Well, I was and I am available for selection all this time. You should not be asking me this question honestly. This question should be asked to people who are writing about these things and their sources because as far as I am concerned I was always available. I have not had any communication with the BCCI to say that I want to rest,” Kohli said.

Meanwhile, the Indian team departed for South Africa tour earlier today. They will be playing three Testa and three ODIs against the Proteas with the first Test starting from December 26.
