The Women’s Premier League proved to be a massive success in its inaugural season in Mumbai. The Mumbai Indians defeated the Delhi Capitals on Sunday, March 26 to lift the trophy. They won the game by seven wickets to chase down 132 runs at the Brabourne Stadium.

Hayley Matthews, Issy Wong, and Nat Sciver Brunt put up impressive performances to power their side to victory. The tournament has witnessed several breathtaking performances throughout. In this article, we take a look at all the award winners in the 2023 Women’s Premier League.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament: Hayley Matthews

Hayley Matthews played a vital role in Mumbai Indians title-winning campaign in the 2023 Women’s Premier League. She scored 271 runs in 10 matches, at an average of 30.11, and took 16 wickets.

Orange Cap: Meg Lanning

The Delhi Capitals may have not won the 2023 Women’s Premier League title, but their skipper Meg Lanning stole the show with her batting in the tournament. She slammed 345 runs in five matches, at an average of 49.29, finishing the league as the leading run-scorer.

Purple Cap: Hayley Matthews

Hayley Matthews had a memorable night at the Brabourne Stadium during the 2023 Women’s Premier League final. Along with the Most Valuable Player award, she also won the Purple Cap. She took 16 wickets at an average of 12.62, including a three-wicket haul in the final.

Powerful striker of the tournament: Sophie Devine

Sophie Devine set several records in the 2023 Women’s Premier League. She slammed the highest individual score in the tournament, scoring 99 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore off just 36 deliveries.

Emerging Player of the season – Yastika Bhatia

Mumbai Indians wicket-keeper Yastika Bhatia won the Emerging Player of the season award. In 10 matches, she scored 214 runs at an average of 21.40.

Fairplay award – Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals

The 2023 Women’s Premier League champions Mumbai Indians, and the runners-up Delhi Capitals shined not only on the field but also with their on-field behavior.

Catch of the season – Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur’s stunning catch to dismiss Devika Vaidya earned the Catch of the Season award. Standing in the slip cordon, she dived to her right to pull off an outstanding catch.
