“Looking Forward To Getting Back Into It” – Ben Stokes On Resuming Bowling

England skipper Ben Stokes is looking forward to getting back into bowling rhythm. However, he revealed that he won’t be bowling in the second Test against India, which kicks off on February 2 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam

Ben Stokes hasn’t bowled in professional cricket since the 2023 Ashes series at home. He has faced trouble due to his knee. He underwent knee surgery before heading to India for the five-Test series. Speaking at the press conference ahead of the second Test, Ben Stokes opened up on his plans to resume bowling. He said as quoted by The Telegraph,

“You will see me bowl tomorrow. I did say that this trip is a back-to-bowling programme for me. You have seen me do a lot of running and that has been part of it. Tomorrow is just the start of low-impact bowling, get the rest of my body going again and just gradually keep building that up. I won’t be bowling in the game. It is a lot easier (not bowling). But I am looking forward to getting back into it.”

I’m just trying to keep on top of it: Ben Stokes

England skipper Ben Stokes pulled off a brilliant run-out of Ravindra Jadeja during the first Test. It proved to be one of the crucial moments in the game. England secured a historic in the Hyderabad test. They won by 28 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match test series. Stokes believes that he wouldn’t have been able to pull off that run-out before his knee surgery.

“I honestly don’t think so. I think I would have been thinking about my movements, whereas then I didn’t have to. I’m not rehabbing for the sake of it. I’m just trying to keep on top of it and everything is ok,” said Ben Stokes.
