Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) upgraded their roster at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, tactically gaining three foreign players along with domestic Indian talent. The franchise’s auction strategy showed a particular attention to filling the main gaps created by the recent exits, most notably in the bowling and wicketkeeping departments. Their acquisitions affirm LSG’s intention to form a strong and well-rounded squad for the 2026 season.
The highlight of LSG’s auction was the acquisition of Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis for ₹8.60 crore, the result of a very intense bidding contest with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Inglis, who was a part of the Punjab Kings before, is going to contribute his explosive batting skills and good international experience to the middle order of the franchise. His aggressive stroke-making not only enhances the batting line-up but also takes care of the team’s wicketkeeping with a player who can change the game from the beginning.
At the auction, LSG also made two less noticeable but equally clever moves where they picked up Anrich Nortje, a fast bowler from South Africa, and Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka for their minimum possible price. Nortje, who has been freed by Kolkata Knight Riders, introduces real speed and hostility into the bowling department, while Hasaranga, after being released by Rajasthan Royals, is making a comeback to the IPL. Although Hasaranga’s performance has not been as good ever since his extraordinary 2022 season when he took 26 wickets, LSG still considered his adaptability and experience to be of great worth in the case of quitting Ravi Bishnoi.
The combination of these three foreign signings along with local Indian players gives LSG a squad that is capable of competing in IPL 2026 very well. The strategic method of the franchise not only guarantees balance and depth but also takes full advantage of the value at the auction.
