Mahela Jayawardene all set to lead This Team in T20 Triangular Tournament

The Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene will captain the MCC side in tri series involving Nepal and Netherlands to be played at Lords Cricket Ground from 29th July 2018.

First MCC will take on Netherlands in the opening match which will be followed by MCC versus Nepal and the final league match would see Nepal and Netherlands in the final league match. These matches would be played as T20I fixtures.

In MCC squad, Mahela Jayawardene will lead the squad. With them would be Scotland trio of Dylan Budge, Alasdair Evans and Mark Watt, part of Scotland which stunned the number 1 ranked ODI team of the World England by 6 runs.

The rest of MCC squad will be announced in the coming weeks. Both Nepal and Netherlands have been granted One day international recently.

Jayewardene played a total of 149 test matches, 448 One day international and 55 T20I matches for Sri Lanka. In the 149 test matches, the legend of Sri Lankan cricket scored 11814 runs with an average of 49.84. He hit 34 centuries and 50 half centuries for Sri Lanka.

In 50 over format, the right handed batsman scored 12650 runs from 448 matches at an average of 33.37. He hit 19 centuries and 77 half centuries for Sri Lanka. He scored 1493 runs from 55 matches in T20I matches for Sri Lanka. In all three formats, Jayewardene hit 54 centuries.

The Sri Lankan legend got the honorary life member of MCC in 2015. His name on Lords honours board comes twice for the centuries against England in 2002 and 2006. He got the experience of playing for various county sides in England.

Nepal played their debut match at Lords in 2016 and defeated the MCC side by 41 runs. Netherlands shocked England in the opening match of World T20 in 2009 at Lords, London defeating hosts England by 4 wickets.
